Finish Spelman College Degree

I am a sophomore attending Spelman College, on the pre-law track as a political science major. When I first thought about attending college I knew there would be a financial struggle, and that I would have to do good in school in order to maintain my education. However, my at Spelman first year I struggled with the transition from California to life on my own in Atlanta. Knowing that I need to set the highest and best example for my siblings I found myself not letting my setbacks be what define me, but rather what propelled me forward further. Through this I now am not only a sophomore with superb gpa, but I am also interning for Like Whoa studios as a blogger and am on the road to graduating with my bachelor's degree in three years instead of four. Being that Spelmans tuition is consistently raising it is becoming more and more difficult for my parents to not only raise my other 3 siblings but also pay for my tuition to help me graduate from the top HBCU in the nation. Spelman is only the beginning of my journey as I take a path onto pursuing a law degree and eventually becoming a judge, but it is a milestone that I pray I can achieve.  Knowing that I cannot rely on others, and that I need to be responsible for some of the finances I work at Pappadeauxs, go to school, and do a paid internship to help out, but still it is not enough. If by mid April I am not halfway to my goal, I will be forced to take off a year of school and thus be sent backwards in my education process. Through this account, from the support of my family, friends, and others I hope to receive enough funds in order to achieve my first goal of graduating from Spelman College in May 2018, and be the exemplary role model I set out to be for my younger siblings and mentees.
