Financial Fund for Doug and Kerrie Midkiff

Donation protected
In the summer of 2017, Doug and Kerrie Midkiff's lives were changed forever. At just 30 years old, Doug, an avid n-scale train modeler and structural engineer at AECOM, celebrated his 5th wedding anniversary with Kerrie, the 2nd birthday of their daughter Vivian (now 4 years old), and learned he had stage 4 colon cancer.  The Midkiff's have poured everything they have into fighting this awful battle for the past 2.5 years. After countless surgeries, hospital stays, chemo and other medical treatments, sleepless nights, and downright exhausting days, it was decided on Monday, January 20th, 2020 that Doug be placed in hospice care in his home.

Whereas the family doesn't wish to know the prognosis, they have chosen to spend as much time together as possible during this extremely difficult time.

Both Doug & Kerrie's immediate family are taking care of everything in the household like cooking, cleaning, and day to day needs. Doug's care team rotates daily.

However, financially, this family needs help immediately. Kerrie's part-time position was eliminated by her company in December and is now caring for Doug full-time, unable to work. Doug is receiving 67% of his pay in short-term disability, but that will soon expire.

The family has done an amazing job balancing finances until this point and are extremely grateful to Doug's employer for their faithfulness to employment during this journey, but as of now, the situation has changed and we must help them out to be able to:

1. Cover outstanding and upcoming medical and other expenses, including monthly mortgage, food, utilities, car payments, gas, and insurance.
2. Create a replacement for both Kerrie and Doug's income.
3. Allow Kerrie to continue to homeschool Vivian, which is imperatively important to her.
4. Allow this family to stay in their beautiful family home in Parker, CO, preserving memories and normalcy for everyone.

The family doesn't need meals, flowers, or other help at this time. All we need to do is bless this family financially. Please join me in an act of giving so they can focus on their days together and healing as a family,  not on paying their mortgage and bills. Let's do this together, please.

If you know them personally, you know how magical their love story has been. I've never seen two people be so consistently, passionately in love through their years together. They imagined a lifetime of happiness, raising their gorgeous, brilliantly smart daughter together, and potentially growing their family as they have watched so many of their friends and family members do. It has been devastating watching their dreams be ripped apart by this awful disease.  Kerrie is by far the strongest and most caring wife, mother, and friend I have ever met and it's taking everything she has to push through this. Please do whatever you can to bless her and Vivi financially so they never have to worry about carrying on with their lives. Please let the devastation of the situation be all they have to deal with, not financial hardship.

We love you, Doug.
