Film Girl Film just announced our call for directors and film submissions for the 2018 Film Girl Film Festival, and now we are calling upon our trusted community, seeking support for this annual celebration of women in film!
The festival will be held on October 12-14, 2018 at the Underground Collaborative on Wisconsin Avenue. It will feature both short films and feature-length films produced and directed by local, domestic and international filmmakers who have chosen to share the stories of women from all walks of life.
The 2018 Film Girl Film Festival not only marks the three year anniversary of the Milwaukee-based women’s film festival, but it also marks a huge step for the organization as we rebrand from a local festival to an international community that honors and highlights the enormous contributions of women to the global film community. Formerly known as the Milwaukee Women’s Film Festival, festival director Andrea Thompson saw the potential of the organization and renamed it Film Girl Film to in order to widen the lens of the stories shared. However, Andrea and the FGF team are keeping the festival in Milwaukee in order to feature the extraordinary community that has helped inspire many local and international artists.
During this crucial year in the Film Girl Film development, we are reaching out to see if you would be interested in becoming a sponsor for the 2018 Film Girl Film Festival.
We appreciate all donations regardless of amount, and will make sure every dollar goes towards putting on a spectacular festival that inspires good conversation and progressive movement in the film industry! More specifically, your help will help us pay for the projection equipment and screens, all marketing materials, all printed materials, recognition for our filmmakers, and any other logistical supplies we need for the festivities. All excess funding will go directly into further developing the “Film Girl Film” community, a new online forum that shares blogs, podcasts, and commentary about powerful women in the film industry.
