1 in 3 black men in America will be incarcerated in their lifetime and their children are 6 times more likely than other children to go to prison themselves. This short film examines the cycle that seems to condemn so many young people before they even begin.

A dream-like narrative that places a face on the Mass Incarceration phenomenon by focusing on one particular father-son relationship and their surrounding community. It moves inside a world where forward-moving opportunities appear to be scarce as the young Father struggles to be a provider for his family and maintain his compromised mental and emotional health.

Father, like so many others living in this matrix, becomes institutionalized. OREN captures the parallel decline of this incarcerated Father and the family he leaves behind, having the most devastating impact
on his young Son.

This film is a bold, visual assertion of the transgenerational impact Mass Incarceration has on American families.
