Fighting Finn Miller

Megan and Travis Miller are a young couple who live in Coopersburg PA.  They have a 21 month old son named Travis and a 2 month old son named Finn.  When Megan was pregnant with Finn they found out that he had the symptoms of a rare condition called Beckwith-Wiedemann Syndrome.

His intestines were growing outside of his body and he had a heart defect.  Beckwith-Wiedemann Syndrome is an overgrowth disorder which is accompanied by an increased risk of childhood cancer and certain congenital features.

Megan’s pre-natal treatment was very costly as she had to see numerous specialists at CHOP's Center for Fetal Diagnosis on a regular basis. Megan, Travis, and their families were scared but loved that little boy so much already and would do anything in the world to help him.

On May 2, 2015, Finn was born 6 weeks premature at CHOP in their Special Delivery Unit.  He had heart surgery when he was just 2 days old, has struggled with his blood sugar levels, contracted MRSA, developed a bowel infection and has had to have several blood transfusions.

On July 2, 2015 Finn was diagnosed with hepatoblastoma, a rare form of childhood cancer in his liver. Doctors told Megan and Travis he would need surgery to remove the tumor followed by chemotherapy. He had surgery on July 9, 2015 which included a liver resection, omphalocele repair, and placement of a port for chemotherapy.

The surgery was successful and Finn’s next battle will be going through several cycles of chemotherapy.

Travis has been working as much as possible while driving back and forth as often as he can to see his family.  Megan has not been able to go back to work (as a radiation therapist treating cancer patients) since she has been staying with Finn around the clock.

Many friends and loved ones have given generous gifts to Megan and Travis which they are extremely grateful for.  However, others have requested this site be set up by their families and friends to contribute and help in some way.  While Megan and Travis have medical insurance, the co-pays for each of these procedures are still very expensive and have been adding up quickly.  Any gift you give will go to Finn Miller's medical bills and expenses.

Thank you so much for your thoughts and prayers. We know Megan and Travis will be deeply touched by your support.
