A new social fundraising movement to protect abortion and reproductive rights has been launched to support the National Network of Abortion Funds, Planned Parenthood Federation of America, Planned Parenthood Action Fund, American Civil Liberties Union, and the ACLU Foundation. Access to abortion is under attack in this country. Already too many face burdensome waiting periods, medically unnecessary restrictions, denials of insurance coverage, and other hurdles meant to make it harder to get an abortion. As a result, for too many people abortion is already inaccessible. And now, we are seeing a rash of abortion bans sweeping the country, all with one goal in mind — to bring a direct challenge to Roe v. Wade to the Supreme Court, and take away the constitutional right to abortion altogether.
This is not just an attack on people in Missouri or Georgia or Alabama, this is an attack on all of us.
While these bans affect all of us, we know that these bans and other efforts to restrict abortion will hit people of color and those who are struggling to make ends meet the hardest — the people who already face barriers to accessing good health care. While some wealthy people may be able to find a way around abortion bans, far too many — especially those who already face racism, homophobia, and transphobia — will be left with no options at all.
We are fighting back.
Because this is about our bodies, our lives, and our rights.
We’re teaming up to fuel the fight against these bans – and make sure that every person who needs abortion care can actually get it, without delay.
The ‘Fight Back’ campaign is a centralized fundraiser enabling each donor to fund legal battles in court, provide critical services all across the country, join the movement to protect access to safe, legal abortion, and encourage legislative bodies to take steps to protect reproductive rights -- all with a single donation.
Your contribution will be collected by the Fight Back: Protect Abortion Access fund (“Fund”) and distributed among 5 organizations: the National Network of Abortion Funds, Planned Parenthood Federation of America, Planned Parenthood Action Fund, the ACLU Foundation, and the American Civil Liberties Union to:
● Remove the many financial and logistical barriers to abortion access – including offsetting the cost of transportation, childcare, lodging, and abortion procedures – that too many patients face;
● Fuel the fight in the courts to protect access for EVERY patient, and keep health center doors open for patients who need care; and,
● Help continue on-the-ground organizing in states to protect access, build the movement, and ensure elected officials everywhere support comprehensive reproductive health care.
Forty percent (40%) of all funds donated will be distributed to organizations doing advocacy work, represented by Planned Parenthood Action Fund and American Civil Liberties Union, Inc. , which are both 501(c)(4) not-for-profit entities. This portion of your donation is not tax-deductible.
The remaining sixty percent (60%) will be distributed to GoFundMe.org , a registered 501(c)(3), for charitable services. GoFundMe.org will then distribute funds further to registered 501(c)(3)s, namely Planned Parenthood Federation of America, Inc. , American Civil Liberties Union Foundation, Inc. , and National Network of Abortion Funds, Inc. * This portion of your donation may be tax-deductible, and GoFundMe.org will issue monthly receipts in connection therewith.
In keeping with the above breakdown, contributions will be split after transaction fees as follows:
25% to National Network of Abortion Funds, Inc., a registered 501(c)(3)
17.5% to Planned Parenthood Federation of America, Inc. (PPFA), a registered 501(c)(3)
17.5% to ACLU Foundation, Inc., a registered 501(c)(3)
20% to Planned Parenthood Action Fund, a registered 501(c)(4)
20% to American Civil Liberties Union, Inc. (ACLU) a registered 501(c)(4)
Contributions will not be earmarked for any purpose, and will generally support each organization’s activities to protect and promote access to reproductive health nationwide.
