Fight with Erik

By now, some of you may or may not know that my brother Erik, my friend and an amazing uncle, was diagnosed with stage 2 renal clear cell carcinoma in July of 2013. Erik under went several surgeries with the end result being a full nephrectomy (kidney removal) on the left and a partial on the right. We were reassured it was all "contained" or so we thought. Here we are now getting ready to celebrate New Years only to end up at Yale and we're told on New Year's Day that Erik's cancer has metastasized which is now stage 4! Our worlds have been turned upside down to say the very least.
Being a very proud person, Erik, humbly, has kept this as quiet as he possibly could (not his family of course). Erik started treatment with Yale only to be told 5 months later that the cancer is still spreading and the doctors had no idea what was next.
Erik was given the news that the cancer has spread to his lymph nodes, lungs, stomach, colon and the brain. Doing what I do best, I put it into go mode. Erik is now being treated at Cancer Center Treatments of America (CTCA) in Chicago. He has been undergoing treatment since January and CTCA just upped the dose of his chemotherapy which is taking its toll along with many other worries. Even with great medical benefits, having cancer is very costly. Expenses have become a major stress and distraction while he tries to focus on staying positive and becoming healthy.
Due to the new chemo treatment, flying to Chicago every 3-4 weeks for some treatments, scans, check ups and not being able to work has become more and more strenuous. Erik is in need of all your love and support and is in need of assistance. I promise your generosity will not be forgotten!
