Fight for Kimmy

Donation protected
On December 9th, Kimmy was walking when she felt a crack in her hip. Much to her resistance, she finally agreed on Sunday to go to the ER since she could barely walk and was in excruciating pain. After an x-ray and CT scan, they discovered her hip was fractured due to a mass growing on the bone.

Over the following two weeks, she has been in and out of labs, had a biopsy, PET scan, all to find out that she has been diagnosed with Small Cell Lymphoma. It’s in the lymph nodes in her lungs, stomach and hip. The doctor has informed us this is not a curable cancer but it is treatable and we are hoping for full remission. She has a long road ahead of her and with that comes a lot of fear and uncertainty. Her latest test was an MRI to make sure the cancer has not spread to her brain.

With every appointment, procedure, trip and treatment, comes a cost that we didn't prepare for nor could prepare for. Even with insurance, we all know when it comes to something of this magnitude, insurance companies don’t cover everything and you have to fight for what they do cover.

Anyone that knows Kimmy, knows her heart is bigger than life itself. Our sister works two jobs, one full-time and one part-time. She the caregiver to our mother who is also her best friend, and gives without blinking an eye to anyone in need. Kimmy has never asked for help and would want to keep this to herself and just deal with it because that is the way she is. With Kimmy unable to work and the mounting bills, my sister Leslie and I have convinced her to let us help her in the only way we can and that is to reach out and ask for help.

Help comes in so many forms. Whether it's prayer, emotional support, reaching out, or helping offset financial costs associated with cancer treatments, we are thankful for any and all of the support she will receive. The reason our hearts are where they are today is because of the person Kimmy is and the support of her friends, co-workers and family. Our goal is to help offset the out-of-pocket expenses, as we know this fight will continue, even past 2018. Taking the financial burden out of the picture will allow Kimmy to concentrate on her fight which is the most important. We love you Kimberly Sue!

Thank you to all who have already shown your support in so many ways.
