Gender Reassignment Surgery

Donation protected
My name is Coen.  I'm a transgender man living in Charlotte, NC.  I've been transitioning via hormone injections of Testosterone since January of 2013.
It's been a long journey, but I've got the best group of  amazing friends and family in my corner.  I know who I am.  They know who I am.  They accept me.  I'm lucky.

In North Carolina, in order to have your gender marker changed on your ID, you have to have a gender reassingment surgery.  For me, that will be top surgery.
I have traveled the road to transition with about as much humility and positivity as I can muster.  I remind myself daily that is an amazing feat to have gotten as far as I have.

I'm also a writer, and my first published work, a volume of Haiku focusing on my transition, will be ready to purchase from Lost and Found Ficiton in a few weeks.  The proceeds from 575 will go directly towards the surgery.

From my dear friends:

"Top surgery isn't about trying to change who you are – it's about changing the person you see in the mirror into the person you already are. Transition is hard. There is no doubt about that-it can be the most dangerous and scariest part of a transgender man's life, both for him and his family and friends. Often times, transition includes losing people you love, losing social support, and economic stability. Through his transition, I have seen Coen Blossom despite the loss, despite the struggles, and I am proud of the man he is today. He deserves the right to look in the mirror and be proud of the man he sees. This is why top surgery is so very important to us as friends and family and to Coen as an individual. It is important that Coen feel good in his own skin: please help us to do just that--go fund Coen's top surgery!" ~Liz

"It’s Coen’s 1 yr man-iversary and I’m so stoked for him. Man, getting to see him when I went home was so rejuvenating. I was trying to tell someone I met in class about him the other day and I think I said something along the lines of “Do you ever meet someone and you just know that they are a magical unicorn person and that having them in your life has changed you and for good.”
He told me he wants me to come home for when he has top surgery and I could have cried. I mean I think that was the original plan but then the distance but then I guess none of that mattered and just. It means so much, seriously, that he not only trusts me enough but is comfortable enough with me being there for something that is so important but also so sensitive and emotionally taxing. "I have known Coen Crisp for 3 years. I have seen an amazing transformation in him as our friendship has grown. Living his life as a male has enabled him to flourish as a human being. He is now a happy, well adjusted and confident person. I strongly support his efforts for surgery so he may complete his journey that began at conception. Thank you." ~Brenda
