Hello dear friends and family,
This is the type of thing you hope you never have to write, but here we are. As you know by now, my Mom was recently diagnosed with cancer. It was a shock to us all, and has been a very emotional and intense couple of weeks since then.
If you know my Mom, then you know what an amazing person she is. Kind, loving, compassionate, and hard working, she would gladly give you the shirt off her own back if you needed it.
In less than 2 weeks, she will go through surgery to remove the sarcoma tumor in her abdomen. The good news is the surgeon is confident he can remove the entire tumor. The bad news is that in the process, she will also lose her right kidney and some of her intestines. It will take up to 2 months for her to fully recover, but her journey to beating cancer will have only just begun.
Until her tumor has been biopsied after removal, the oncologists do not know what kind of sarcoma she has, and thus do not know the kind of treatment it will respond to. Chances are high that she will need a round or rounds of chemotherapy.
Needless to say, she will not be able to work for some time, leaving my parents struggling to pay for their living expenses until my Mom is well enough to work again.
Right now we're trying to relieve all stress from my parent's life, so they can focus on getting my Mom healthy and well again. If you could help, even giving $5 or $10, it would make such a difference.
