No FGM Australia are campaigning for survivors of female genital mutilation to have access to life-changing surgery which will help them restore sexual function.
At the moment the surgery developed by Pierre Foldes is not available in Australia but we have been approached by a surgeon who has worked with people who have injured or abnormal genitals requiring reconstruction.
The surgeon has agreed to provide his services via Medicare, however there are some out of pocket expenses for the cost of tests and other procedures which are required.
We have a survivor of FGM who is very keen to be the first patient to have clitoral reconstruction however is unable to afford the out of pocket expenses.
We are asking for donations to help cover her out of pocket expenses.
