UPDATE: 15 pigs will have safe new homes thanks to the hard work of Fenland Animal Sanctuary, but we still need your help to fund their care. Our target has been increased to reflect the costs of healthchecks and castration (to avoid additional pregnancies and aggression at their future homes). Done under anaesthetic, to be as painlessly completed as possible, this is an expensive process. Any additional funds will go towards their transport, food and bedding, especially important with the ice and snow heading in! Please see below for the beginning of our story...
We're raising money to purchase and care for a family of pigs in need of safe homes. Their current farm has been sold and if not saved soon they risk being sold on for meat or more breeding. These are beautiful, sensitive, intelligent animals. They deserve the chance to live a full and enjoyable life just the same as our traditional companion animals like dogs and cats.
The truly awesome Fenland Animal Rescue (FAR) has offered a safe home for some of the family and we're currently searching for additional homes. Please help us raise the funds required for the current owner to release these pigs to us.
The pigs are being priced at £100 per adult (4), and £80 per piglet (15). A deal for all of them has been agreed at £1400. However, if we raise less than this we will try to save as many as we can. Additionally, as FAR only has space for 7 animals, if additional homes aren't found for the other pigs in time we will release any additional funds raised over their purchase price to FAR towards their future care costs.
We have until mid February to raise this money. Any amount you can spare will be greatly appreciated. Please help!
