My name is Shawn Nerdahl, and I am the co-owner of Arizona Ballroom Champions. Every year I participate in a local charity event called Dancing with the Bars. The money raised from this event usually went to the Joshua Tree Feeding Program, a local charity here in Phoenix, AZ. This year the event decided to go with a different chairity.
The Joshua Tree Feeding Program is a local all volunteer based charity that helps feed men and women with Hiv/Aids. It's an amazing organization that is seriously under-funded.
This year our studio decided to hold a can food drive for the organization, and we decided to call them up and see what else we could do to help out. We went down to their office in Phoenix and took a tour and decided to help serve food for their Thanksgiving dinner. The event was so moving and we were very thankful to be part of it. Then we found out that they did not have the funds for their Christmas dinner and we decided that we needed to help. So we are holding various fund raisers for the next few weeks to come up with the money for their Christmas dinner and for other basics that the organization needs. Any donation would help!
Since starting this campaign, we have decided that there are other organizations that are like Joshua Tree, that need help. We have decided to adopt various charities throughout the year and donate money that we raise to them. We will be looking for charities that are local and that do not have a big name help them bring money in. We have decided to donate our services to help raise money for this cause. So for anyone that donates $20 or more, you will receive a gift certificate for 2 30 minute private lessons. You can use the gift certificate yourself, or use it as a gift. The gift certificate has an $80 value!
