Aid Lebanon Now: Non-Profit Initiative aiding Lebanon in this Catastrophic Time
Beirut, LEBANON, 10th August 2020 – Aid Lebanon Now is a growing group of volunteers in Lebanon and the Lebanese diaspora. It all started 6 months ago as an initiative called Feed Lebanon Now which targeted underprivileged families and individuals all over the country and offered them food donation boxes that would last up to 3 months. With a target of feeding 3,000 families, we ended up feeding 4,600 from border to border, covering 3 life or death operations and collaborating with 45 non-profit organizations and elderly homes. Feed Lebanon Now also sheltered 4 homeless people, saved 3 suicide cases, as well as fixed a beautiful little girl’s teeth.
The group, led by founder George Abboud, is based in Beirut with support from expats across the world, including Africa, America, Australia, Canada, France, the GCC and Germany. After the horrific massacre that occurred on the 4th of August, we decided to re-activate our efforts into a new initiative called Aid Lebanon Now.
Aid Lebanon Now has no political affiliations and is solely funded by benefactors. Through its collaborative efforts and fund raising, the group is providing basic food staples and supplies to people in dire need of support. Charity boxes include, food and medical supplies, cleaning equipment and candles to aid families. In addition, the group aims to fund and back several families with basic home improvement projects such as light fixes, doors and glass window restructuring. Aid Lebanon Now supports Lebanese products and businesses. It primarily conducts its transactions in Lebanese Lira.
George Abboud, founder, said: “We will not accept anyone to sleep hungry at night, homeless, sick or without any medicine. We will not accept anyone to live below basic living standards in this country. We are all one, we are all Lebanese and our unity is our biggest strength.”

"ساعد لبنان الآن" (Aid Lebanon Now) مبادرة غير ربحية تقدّم إعانات للبنان في هذه الأوقات الكارثية
بيروت، بتاريخ 10 آب/أغسطس 2020 -تضمّ مبادرة "ساعد لبنان الآن" (Aid Lebanon Now) مجموعة متنامية من المتطوّعين المقيمين في لبنان والمهجر. أبصرت هذه المبادرة النور قبل 6 أشهر تحت عنوان "أطعِم لبنان الآن" (Feed Lebanon Now) واستهدفت الأُسر والأفراد المحرومين من كافة الأراضي اللبنانية وقدّمت لهم مساعدات تضمّنت صناديق أغذية صالحة لثلاثة أشهر تقريباً. وهدفت المبادرة إلى توفير الطعام لقرابة 3,000 أسرة وانتهى بها المطاف بتوفير الأغذية لحوالى 4,600 أسرة موزّعة في كل المناطق اللبنانية. كما غطّت المبادرة 3 عمليات حيوية وتعاونت مع 45 منظمة غير حكومية ودور مسنّين. كذلك، أمّنت مبادرة "أطعِم لبنان الآن" (Feed Lebanon Now) المأوى لأربعة أشخاص مشرّدين، وأنقذت 3 أشخاص من الانتحار، وعالجت أسنان فتاة صغيرة جميلة.
أسّس السيد جورج عبود هذه المجموعة التي اتّخذت من بيروت مقراً لها ونالت دعم مهاجرين لبنانيين من مختلف أقطاب العالم، بما في ذاك أفريقيا، وأمريكا، وأستراليا، وكندا، وفرنسا، وبلدان مجلس التعاون الخليجي وألمانيا. وبعد المجزرة المروّعة في الرابع من آب/أغسطس، قرّرنا مضاعفة جهودنا ضمن مبادرة جديدة تحت عنوان "ساعد لبنان الآن" (Aid Lebanon Now).
ليس لهذه المبادرة أي انتماءات سياسية ويجري تمويلها حصرياً من قبل فاعلي الخير. ومن خلال جهودها التعاونية وحملات التبرّع التي نظّمتها، استطاعت هذه المجموعة توفير المواد والمستلزمات الغذائية الأساسية لأشخاص هم بأمسّ الحاجة إلى الدعم. وتتضمّن الصناديق الطعام، ومستلزمات طبية، وأدوات تنظيف، وشموع لإعانة الأسر. إضافةً إلى ذلك، ترمي هذه المجموعة إلى تمويل ودعم عدد من الأسر من خلال المشاريع الأساسية لتحسين المنازل، على غرار إصلاح أجهزة الإنارة، والأبواب، وزجاج النوافذ. وتقدّم مبادرة "ساعد لبنان الآن" (Aid Lebanon Now) الدعم للمنتجات والمشاريع التجارية اللبنانية وتتداول بالدرجة الأولى بالليرة اللبنانية.
ويقول المؤسّس السيد جورج عبود: "لن نقبل بأن ينام أي شخص ليلاً وهو يشعر بالجوع أو المرض أو بدون دواء. لن نقبل بأن يعيش أيّ شخص في لبنان دون مستوى المعيشة الأساسي. كلّنا يدٌ واحدة. نحن أبناء وطنٍ واحدٍ ووحدتنا هي مصدر قوّتنا."
إننا نقدّر هباتكن وسنحرص على توزيعها بشكلٍ عادلٍ على الناس في مختلف الأحياء التي طالها الدمار في يوم الرابع من آب/أغسطس 2020 المشؤوم.
