Mikhail Baryshnikov said " The arts are the best form of truth that we have. We must be vigilant to protect and maintain a society that respects this idea. This means we must participate as citizens whenever possible.  We must give our time, our thought, our caring to ensure that our country has the awareness and the courage, the generosity of spirit that is necessary for art to flourish."  Help the art of dance to continue by supporting Harry Peterson (photo: far left on bar in class at San Francisco Ballet School with Julio Bocca).   Harry was accepted at Paris Opera Ballet Summer Intensive training course for their two week program this summer as well as to an entire month of training at the Royal London Ballet School in Covent Garden. Only a handful of artistic institutions around the world command as much reverence as these schools and competition for the few, coveted spots to both institutions is extremely fierce. With your help he will attend both training programs.  The Paris Opera Ballet School (French: "École de danse de l'Opéra national de Paris") is the oldest dance school in the world, celebrating its tercentennial (300 years) in 2013.  FUN FACT: For the first twenty years, the dancers of the Paris Opera Ballet were all male!
Harry will board at the school, located in Nanterre just outside of the city, and after two weeks of rigorous training  will head to the Royal Ballet School in Covent Garden, London, literally crossing the award winning "Bridge of Aspiration" daily as he continues his diligent pursuit of excellence and chases his dream of becoming a principal ballet dancer. Harry, who will turn 18 in May,  has been training in ballet since he was four years old, never veering from his chosen path. Withstanding relentless teasing from peers and often their parents, he has steadfastly held onto his dream and continued to push himself physically and mentally to meet the challenges he faces.  The training schedule and demands of high school (he is a straight  "A" student and will  graduate this year!) make it impossible for him to have any type of casual job.  Despite the scholarship awards, there are a multitude of costs involved with housing in London (at the local Youth Hostel - $1500,  food ($ 2000+ ), plane tickets ($1500), uniforms and more! Please help him continue on his path to bring the beauty of dance and excellence to the world.
Your support is much appreciated. Thank you.
