Water For Orphans In Kenya

Every day over 100 children walk miles to Jolly Kids Preschool in drought-stricken Awasi, Kenya.  Most of them are orphans whose guardians are unable to provide regular meals or an opportunity to go to school.  At Jolly Kids, sponsored by Houses with Hope, they receive a quality education and the only meal most of them get each day.

Awasi is extremely hot and dry, and on their way home from school the children stop by a nearby pond to get a drink. The pond is dirty and contaminated but it is the only water source in the area.  As a result, many of the children at Jolly Kids die from Cholera, Typhoid, and Dysentery.


Houses with Hope is sponsoring a Crowdfunding effort called, "Water for Life," in order to address the water crisis in Awasi.  Funds raised from the project will drill a borehole adjacent to Jolly Kids.  This borehole will not only provide clean water to the school children, it will also be available to the community.

Time is of the essence.  Each day that goes by without clean water puts the children at Jolly Kids School and the community of Awasi at risk of sickness, disease, and death.
