Send Our Students to Costa Rica

Foundations College Prep is partnering with Greenheart Travel to help students on Chicago's Southside become global learners through a summer volunteer trip to Costa Rica this summer. Students will will spend seven days in Costa Rica living with a host family and volunteering at a  shelter that works to rehabilitate rescued wild animals. Outside of volunteering at the shelter, students will have the opportunity to explore Costa Rica through various excursions, including zip lining and hiking. This trip will afford students the opportunity to experience Costa Rica through complete cultural immersion.

Thanks to a generous donation from the IMC Charitable foundation, students and chaperones only need to raise funds for a down payment and passport fees - $4,050 for 8 students and 1 chaperone. 

Going to Costa Rica will be an amazing opportunity for students to travel outside of their comfort zones and gain real life experiences. These students have never had the opportunity to travel outside of the country, and some have never traveled outside of their home state. At Foundations College Prep, our mission is to get students to and through college. Having a volunteer abroad experience on their college applications will help our students stand out. 

Foundations College Prep serves students from low-income communities whose families cannot afford to cover the entire cost of the trip. We want every student to go to Costa Rica, and we don't want money to be something that prevents someone from going. We will be doing several group fundraisers and students will be individually fundraising as well. We are asking that you please donate to help us cover remaining costs.
