SDSU’s Andres Bonifacio Samahan proudly presents the 33rd Annual Filipino Culture Night, “Lola”. Since 1986, Filipino Culture Night (FCN) has provided a space for students to express themselves freely while allowing both the students, the faculty, and the community at large to be culturally enriched.  For the last 33 years, our organization unites to produce our largest event, FCN. This year’s FCN comprises of a theatrical play that explores the lesser known experiences of older Filipino figures, specifically caretakers, and the mystery in their silence. In addition, we are also exploring important topics of family all while showcasing Filipino culture through our acts and various performances. Our hope is that the story will resonate in the minds of the audience and encourage families to begin a dialogue to strengthen and improve family relationships as well as call attention to a lesser-known piece of Filipino American history.  FCN is also one of the most significant events AB Samahan puts on as a gift to the community. This year’s production will be put on by AB Samahan’s very own Co-Cultural Coordinators, Mariel Lyn Velicaria & Jason Esguerra.

On April 13, 2018 at 7pm, we will showcase FCN at San Diego State University’s Montezuma Hall as a gift to the community. Though our admission is free, our anticipated budget of $3,000 is still difficult to accomplish on our own. Your donation is highly important and will help offset the expenses of costumes, props, sets, lighting, promotions, and most importantly, the use of the venue. In supporting us, you are helping dedicated and self-motivated college students give back to the community, and strive to educate themselves and others who believe in preserving the Filipino culture.

We warmly invite you to this free event to celebrate Filipino American culture and we hope to see you there!
