Fund Homeless Shelter
We are a Christian church (Disciples of Christ) in Olympia. We believe strongly in providing outreach to those in need in our local community. Due to our mission, we have been sharing our church building with the Olympia Emergency Shelter. Each evening the homeless shelter houses more than 40 homeless residents. Our building was built in 1927, nearly 90 years ago. We are now in dire need for repairs on our old sewer and wastewater pipe infrastructure.
During the heavy rains in Olympia in the winter, the homeless shelter saw flooding in the building because the wastewater was backing up in the toilets and the pipe system needed to be replaced.
With the homeless shelter filled full-time each evening, there is a lot of stress on the existing aging sewer system.
As a result, we need to replace the interior and exterior sewer and stormwater pipe system in order to keep the toilets in the homeless shelter running properly.
These sewer and stormwater pipe repairs are necessary as our old pipe infrastructure is getting to the end of its useful life expectancy.
We need $56,000 to pay for the sewer and stormwater pipe infrastructure replacement. We know there are many compassionate and generous people in local Thurston county and that is why we have set up this GoFundMe site to allow caring people to financially contribute to keeping this Olympia emergency homeless shelter.
