Floral Expressions Fire Devastation
"It's devastating. Unbelievable. 30 years of work, gone."
On January 6, 2016, a vehicle driven by a man under the influence crashed into a small, local business causing the business to engulf in flames and the building and all of its contents were deemed a total loss. One family’s livelihood was destroyed by the carelessness of one man. Devastation. 30 years of hard work and determination, gone in an instant. This family put their heart and soul into building their business. This husband and wife team went above and beyond for their customers (who were their family) to ensure they received the best customer service and care possible. This was evident by the outpouring of love and support they received the day of the incident.
Floral Expressions has been a large contributor to their community over the past 30 years as they were constantly giving back to the community. They have made numerous donations to various companies/charities throughout the years. In addition, they developed a program called Expressions of Hope whose mission is to redesign donated flowers and deliver them to area Nursing Homes, Hospice, Calvert Memorial Hospital and anywhere a smile is needed. They even donated wedding flowers to two community-thrown weddings without hesitation.
They will take it one day at a time, but they are planning to rebuild and hopefully become even stronger with the support of their community.
This family needs your support more than ever, whether it is monetary, prayers, etc.
The money raised from this GOFUNDME account is to help this family rebuild their business after this tragedy.
If you would like to send a donation via alternate means, please send to:
217 N Penn St, Bellefonte, PA 16823
and we'll make sure the money goes directly to Floral Expressions/Aut & Connie.
Thank you for all of your support. It is truly appreciated.

Connie, I hope to see you rebuild soon. You are so loved and respected. You have always treated me as I'm sure you have treated all your customers as a friend and part of your family. You represent what a true good business owner should and I'm so happy to see the community who loves and respect you too come together to show their support , you and your family deserve it. Please rebuild soon! I need you and so does Calvert County!
Connie, please know that our thoughts and prayers are with you and Aut! I am so happy to hear you are going to re-build so that I can come by and get a big hug occasionally and definitely spend some more of my money. I am wearing my black and white polka dot reading glasses today in your honor. I bought them the last time I was in your store before Christmas!
Dear Connie, In 1989, our shop was set afire by a disgruntled former employee. We lived above the shop (we were away on vacation at the time) and lost our business, home and pets all at once. As devastating as that was, thanks to our community, customers and friends (Not to mention Erie Insurance) we worked through it, rebuilt and prospered. Over 26 years later we are the largest shop in our area and going strong. You will get though this and persevere. All my best. Doug Lindamood, George's Flowers Roanoke VA
Barbara Clark, insurance never covers everything and takes a long time to pay out. They need to get up and running ASAP for the biggest floral holiday on Feb 14 even if it's a temp location.
I do not want to be mean. BUT they should have Business Insurance that will COVER EVERYTHING!!!!!!!!
Thank you so much for all the support! We are so blessed and appreciative for everything !!
Aut and Connie, I was so sad to hear of your loss. I know you both have the foresight and tenacity to rebuild your baby, even better if at all possible. I love and respect you as my brother and sister in law, with the support you have at your disposal I have no doubt you will be open very soon. Best wishes
Sending love from Florida. Thank you for being there for my Wood/Cherowitzo family during the most difficult time in our lives. Your kindness and love have remained in our hearts. Keeping your family in my prayers. Xo
Glad to have an opportunity to help two of the best people I know. Please let me know if there's anything more Steve and I can do.
