I am Brittany and this is my daughter Alyssa, who is 4-years old. Alyssa is my whole world, the reason I am alive, and she is my inspiration to succeed and move beyond all these troubles I have faced almost all alone. We are aiming to move to a new home with new opportunities for me to raise my daughter the way I choose and she deserves, in a healthy, natural, supportive, and safe environment around like-minded mothers and children.
It was my daughter that saved me from a downward spiral into drug addiction and all the problems that resulted from a disastrous unhealthy relationship with Alyssa's biological father who is now in prison. Her birth made me come clean and I have been since then. Her father's imprisonment freed us from prolonging our own agony and made me realize that I had to make a stand for my daughter by standing for myself, I have fought depression, abuse, illness, bouts of unconsciousness, and homelessness enough times. Now I ask for your help.
I have been standing on a street corner for several days at a time holding a sign asking for assistance just to pay my bills to keep a roof over our head and our power and water on. Because of my previous addiction, I fell into the snares of the legal system. The good news is that I am on the verge of ending my probation but still needing to pay enormous fees and fines. Once some of these fines are paid, I can get my driver's license back. Work has been next to impossible to get since my lack of a current valid ID prevented them from even putting me on the payroll. I cannot afford childcare or even the simplest cost of getting an ID. It has been humiliating and defeating to my spirit to have to continue like this. This is why I am asking for your help.
I am raising money to: (1) pay off my probation: $1,000; (2) pay off my DMV fines: $700; (3) pay my share of rent for the next two months: $600; (4) get my driver's license back: $60; (5) pay for my power and water for the next two months: $200; (6) get a bus pass for one-month while I look for an inexpensive car: $60; (7) allocate $1,380 towards a vehicle; and (8) have $1,000 in miscellaneous costs (auto maintenance, child needs, etc.), and some travel money to move to a different state altogether. This would be a fresh start and new lease on life for me and Alyssa. This is what I am raising the money for and how it will be used. My goal is hopefully within 15-30 days.
This means a lot to me because I will be able to move to a new home where a golden opportunity has been offered to me as the housekeeper (in exchange for housing and accommodations), with lots of room for me and my daughter (both indoor and outdoor), in an area surrounded by other parents, families, mothers and children in a healthy and nourishing environment. I have been offered a paid position as the administrative assistant for a locally based nonprofit. I will also be supported in going to school learning to run software programs, while learning and also studying permaculture, horticulture, mycology, women's studies, culinary arts and other crafts.
My gratitude to you all will be exemplified by my own success in stabilizing my own life, health and well-being and especially my daughter's. I will personally write each of you in one year's time to tell you of how far we have gone by then. Thanks to you. Alyssa and I wish each one of you many blessings in this holiday season.
