Help a young girl from a Rio favela get to the US for a seminal Brazilian jiu jitsu competition and be in with a chance to get a T-Shirt signed by Jose Aldo and many more super stars!
Evellyn Marins is a young bubbly jiu jitsu competitor from Morro do Santo Amaro, a small favela community in Rio de Janeiro Brazil.
This GoFundMe is to help realise Evellyn's dream to attend the prestigious IBJJF (International Brazilian Ju Jitsu Federation) World Championships in California USA (And hopefully some of her friends too!).
Evellyn recently recieved her blue belt from her instructor Marlon Sandro. Marlon set up the favela social project that inspired her to take up the sport.
The social project has helped many people in the community and saved many lives. For a child growing up in a gang controlled community in Rio danger is everywhere.
The social project provides a welcome break from the stresses of favela life and the instructors offer guidance, direction, wisdom and offer a sense of purpose to the children of the community.
The project has created many champions in the sports of Mixed Martial Arts and jiu jitsu. Along with Evellyn these athletes work every spare hour they have at the social project helping the community and keeping the kids safe from the dangers of the outside world.
I want to help Evellyn realise her dream of competing in the IBJJF World Championships in California. I am doing this because after working on a short film at the social project I was blown away by how caring and kind the people there are and how hard they work to help others.
The goal is to raise enough money to cover her travel and accomadation costs, if we are lucky enough to get any extra money it will be rolled over to help get other athletes to tournaments and help the social project with equipment Kimono's for the children.
Evellyn trains with Nova Uniao, one of the worlds leading Brazilian jiu jitsu and Mixed Martial Arts fight teams which houses some of the worlds biggest names in the sport, such as Jose Aldo, Leo Santos, Hacran Dias, Eduardo Dantas and Marlon Sandro.
Evellyn is also running a raffle with a chance for people to win a UFC T-Shirt signed by Jose Aldo Junior, Renan Barao, Leo Santos, Hacran Dias, Marlon Sandro, Johnny Eduardo, Andre Pederneiras and many more world famous Nova Uniao athletes.
This raffle IS NOT part of this campaign as gofundme do not like raffles. However Evellyn would like to enter all who donate into the draw as a thank you. The draw will be live on facebook on 05/27/2017 and everyone who donates will be entered.
