Fatima Conde

Fatima is my work colleague and friend.  She's a single mum with two teenage daughters. She had just started working with us when she was diagnosed with breast cancer.

She went through 3 months of chemotherapy and had surgery on the 7th of June. The surgeon said she needs at least 3 weeks off work to recover.

The big issue is that Fatima is on a temporary contract, she has no private health insurance, and not enough PRSI to get illness benefit. It's going to take weeks before social welfare starts helping.

In the meantime, Fatima has no income. She needs help to pay for her rent and food.

At the moment, she doesn't sleep, so worried she is about her daughters and her own well being. She's pleading with her doctors to let her come back to work now, because she needs the income, she's afraid to lose her home.

Last but not least, her contract will end in July and she was told that there is no open permanent position nor will the contract be extended.
