45NRTH Groomed Singletrack: Isobel

Hey BC Interior winter Fat Bikers!!
With the increase in popularity and the desire to have groomed single track winter fat-bike trail riding near Kamloops, we have a tremendous opportunity to receive support from 45NRTH!

Currently we have over 14km's of hand and machine assisted snow groomed multi-use Fat Bike trail at the Isobel Lake Trail Network with the opportunity for more!
Right now our local fat bike enthusiasts, The Fat Focker's,  wish to more than double that amount of groomed trail on which to ride fat bikes!

“We’re very excited about the prospects for the Isobel Fat Bike and Multi Use Trail network” says Brad Heyman , Kamloops Fat Bike Enthusiast and Director of the Kamloops Performance Cycling Centre, (KPCC).  “We’ve been scouting and preparing new routes and are looking forward to some big things for the Isobel Lake Trail Network."  The KPCC is a Kamloops based non- profit land management society which is responsible for the maintenance and development of several popular riding networks in the region.

The seed for the current fat-bike movement in the Kamloops area and BC interior was planted four years ago when a group of dedicated riders began meeting and holding a weekly ride. Now, with strong leadership, solid partnerships and cooperation, a well-formed vision, and a committed and engaged team, the movement has firmly taken root, setting the stage to establish the Isobel Lake Riding Area.

"Kamloops is already one of the top regional mountain bike destinations, and is becoming an equally popular winter biking destination."

With the GoFundMe initiative from 45NRTH, we have the opportunity to further develop the Isobel Lake Riding Area just north west of Kamloops.    Funds raised will be used for signage, singletrack grooming, mapping and further trail development.

Ultimately, our goal is to have funds raised to purchase a powered trail groomer,  snowmobile drag or packer which will allow us to not only groom the trails we are already using, but also provide us the opportunity to expand the trail network.   This would mean more groomed & friendly trails which will help us encourage more people to try fat biking!

As a top 6 finalist through the US and Canada - 45NRTH has generously donated $500 to start us off, but it’s up to us to get our Fat Bike community to donate.  Each dollar raised counts as a vote; the trail that raises the most money will receive the top prize!

45NRTH Groomed Singletrack is offering a $3,000 grant for the club which raises the most money on GoFundMe by January 11th, 2016.
