There are millions of people in Australia who rely on the everyday farmer. Whether it be for the milk in their morning coffee, the cotton shirt they wear to work or the Sunday roast they serve to their friends and family.
Drought is everyones problem. The only word to describe the 4 hour drive west from Brisbane to our local community of Goondiwindi is dry.
Australia has produced fantastic charities and organisations that are supporting farmers every single day. Here in Goondiwindi, the Lucy Walker Pharmacy aims to directly provide support to farmers by helping to make local access to healthcare financially viable.
All money raised through this page will be given directly to a drought related charity of our choosing. The Lucy Walker Pharmacy will match every dollar raised to create another Drought Relief Fund in the pharmacy.
This fund will subsidise every day medications and other vital health care items for farmers, who may not be receiving full forms of government assistance in regards to their medication costs. When faced with the option of a vital blood pressure medication or putting food on the table for the next week, we empathise with the choice that many farming families are forced to make, and hope to make this decision null and void.
We encourage everyone to try and raise awareness and support for this campaign to help us provide assistance for our local communities health and well being. We hope to create a supportive environment within the pharmacy, where people are able to ask for assistance with no obligation other than to have a quick chat about how they've been keeping.
The Lucy Walker Pharmacy believes in being able to treat not only the physical health of our community but also support their mental well being too. All of our Pharmacists are Mental Health First Aid trained and are able to support our patients through this challenging time.
