FAODAIL | FOUND Outer Hebrides Film Archive

Donation protected
UistFilm, part of Taigh Chearsabhagh Museum & Arts Centre in Lochmaddy, North Uist, is raising funds to save recently found local archive film collections in a project called FAODAIL | FOUND . Faodail is a Gaelic word for a lucky find.

To launch the project in January 2019 we are aiming to digitise 4000 feet of super8 colour film by local naturalist and Gaelic educator Annie (Chnoc na Luib) MacDonald from the 1960's and 70’s. The films document Annie’s love of her native island’s unique flora and fauna.

Faodail | FOUND will make the films accessible online and in venues across the Outer Hebrides. Screening events will present the films to a wide range of audiences to collect detailed information and reminisces from the era and locations relating to the films. This added context will be of immense value to future generations.

All donors to this campaign will receive a free Faodail | FOUND film download.
