Family Fun Day in Rodeo CA

Hello, my name is Loi.
My family and I hold a Family Fun Day for the families in Rodeo, California as a way to create community and for the people near and dear to us. It is a day of fun, games, and food and engaging in fellowship with our fellow residents. It is also a day used for forging future friendships based on mutual trust that will bridge an invisible yet palpable gap, a chasm that is felt even among our children.
Rodeo is a small refinery town, located in the far western corner of Contra Costa County. It has approximately 11,000 residents in both the older and newer parts of town. A bridge connecting both parts of our town literally and figuratively divide us.
We would like to expand and improve what started as a small community project in the Bayo Vista Housing Project of Rodeo, the biggest housing project in Contra Costa County with 265 units, and almost 1200 residents,into something powerful and inspiring, with local businesses, residents, and organizations in the whole town of Rodeo playing a part as stakeholders and supporters.
HOW FAMILY FUN DAY WORKS
We created Family Fun Days once a month in order to give children and their families who have limited resources to have some fun! It also provides a space to engage and build community between the residents living on both sides of the town. It costs anywhere from $250-$500 a month to hold this event, feeding 60-120 people, mostly children, depending on attendance and food contribution from other members of the community.Whatever is left at the end of the event is given away to whoever wants it. Most of the time, there is nothing to give away.
We have been fortunate to have some friends, local businesses, school administrators, some teachers, the housing authority manager and private citizens donate to this passion. To keep this project going, we need more volunteers and donors to help us sustain the project.
HOW YOU CAN HELP
Whatever we raise will go towards a year of Family Fun Days. If we raise more than our goal, we will use the funds for providing educational services for the children (tutors for kids that need intervention, art and theater lessons for others) at the Recreation Center. We are grateful for your time and donation. Any amount is very much appreciated, and sharing this campaign with your friends via social media will be just as valuable to us. We will update this page with photos/videos of the upcoming events as we hold them. Through your support, this much cherished dream can really take off for the many people in this community.
