Family of 6 Without Transportation

Donation protected

This Christmas, Carrie and her family of 6 were heading back to their home state of Mississippi from North Carolina to visit family. This was the first time they had been able to return to see family and friends in almost 3 years since having moved to North Carolina for Carrie’s new job. Carrie had recently had a baby, so they had to purchase a van so that their entire family would be able to fit into one vehicle in order to make the trip. On the way to Missisippi, however, they were met with an awful twist of fate. As they were traveling through Alabama, they were rear ended on I-20.

The damage was significant and there was even a good amount of internal damage around the new baby’s carseat. They were stranded in Alabama for over 10 hours as they waited for a family member to come and retrieve them. Even once they were able to make it to Mississippi, they were then stranded in their hotel room for several days, unable to see the family they had come to make trek for, as they had no rental vehicle provided to them as of yet. Eventually they were able to get a rental from the other person’s insurance and they were able to get home to North Carolina, but then the real trouble set in.

While everyone is okay, aside from some minor injuries, their van is unable to be fixed. The damage was just too severe and therefore the insurance company has decided to total the van out. Since the Insurance has decided to take this route, they will also be out of a rental car in a few days. This is where they desperately need your help. As a family of 6, including small children and an infant, transportation is incredibly important to them. However, the insurance is only going to pay $10,533.12 even though Carrie owes $15,328.12 on it. This leaves a difference of $4795 that has to be taken care of before she can even begin to look for a new vehicle for her family.

“Why doesn’t she just roll the financing into the new loan?” some people may ask, but due to other tragedy, her credit simply will not allow this. When she moved to North Carolina in order to better her family’s situation, she rented the house that she and her husband owned in Mississippi to a family they could trust. However, they stopped paying rent which resulted in the Bland’s house being foreclosed on. This has left them with extremely limited options.

As of right now, if they do not receive help, if one of their older children has a medical emergency, they will be unable to get them to care, as they will be without transportation that can hold them all. This is where you can help.

I am looking to not only raise enough to cover the difference in what they owe, but also to help them maintain a rental until they are able to get into a new vehicle. A little extra to help them with a down payment would also be nice. Carrie is an amazing person and she and her family do not deserve all of the stress that they have been put under through no fault of their own. Please help me in relieving some of this pressure from them, and helping to make a difference in a family that truly needs it.
