This was our Sweet Home we lost everything. We wake up at 2:00AM with my neighbors screaming that our house was in fire. The fire was so high outside and coming towards the house so fast. We just had time to grab some things such as my purse, a few documents and nothing else. My husband ,our son and myself run for our life’s and get out the house in fire wearing only pajamas. When we was outside we remembered that our dogs was locked downstairs inside the dog house, my husband run back to the house in fire to save our dogs life’s. He did .Our dogs are fine and did not get any injuries. Unfortunately my husband has 35% of his back body with thirty degree burned injuries. He is at hospital in San Francisco and will need many surgeries. Thursday will be his first surgery. We need help in this moment because we lost everything. Thank you and God Bless you.

Update 4
Great News! After 30 days of world class skilled surgery by Dr. Grossman and an unbelievably caring team of nurses at St. Francisco Burn Unit, on November 8th, Chet White was released from the hospital with prospects of a full recovery in time for Christmas!

Our family gives our most sincere thanks to the 272+ supporters that no words in this short note can ever embody. Our hearts are overtaken with the incredible support from so many of our friends we have known for a lifetime and equally as taken back by the generosity of the local community, neighbors, Church, service men and woman (Fire, Helicopter, Ambulance, Dr., Nurses, Police). We are truly heartfelt by the neighborly caring of the small town and local community of Moss Beach.

As you see from the picture, Chet and family are truly one of the lucky ones that came through one of the many house fires in California. Our hearts go out to all those others that are still struggling with this year’s devastating losses. Thanks to your generous help, we are now back on our feet and ready to give back to my community. To that end we look forward to continuing our service as first responders in the Civil Air Patrol.

God Bless All of You and Thank You from The Bottom of our Hearts.

This last week, Chet had his fourth surgery. This surgery was doing skin graphs on his feet and arms. Chet ended up getting a bacteria infection in his left arm and doctors are currently treating it. He was not able to move his arms for 4 days which was extremely difficult. The skin graphs on his legs (used to replace burnt areas of his feet and arms) were bleeding and not healing so now they are are keeping it open without any bandage to speed up the healing process so it can dry. Chet had lost so much blood that he ended up doing blood transfusions for two days to replace the blood lost.

Chet does not have any more surgeries scheduled right now. They are waiting for the bacteria infection in his arm to heal and are checking his skin graphs to make sure that the graphs already done are healing properly. We will keep you posted on additional surgeries.

He continues to be in an incredible amount of pain but appreciates the support that the community has provided for his family. Thank you again for all who have contributed....our community has been truly amazing!

First of all, Chester, Alessandra and her son Richard wanted to thank the community for all the generous donations. They have been very thankful for the financial contributions here on the gofundme page. Also the community has been so generous to donate clothes, food and other specific needs. People have been extremely graciously and thoughtfully and they are so appreciative.

Alessandra was finally able to visit the dogs which are doing well. They have been well taken care of and seem very happy in their temporary home.

Chester has had two more surgeries since the last post. On Monday he had an extremely painful surgery removing the burnt & dead skin from his badly burnt feet. Since this is an area with so many nerves, it is unbelievable painful. The good news is that they took him off of some medication that was causing horrible hallucinations. He is in constant pain but reacted better to this recovery without that medication.

Chester had one day to recover and then today had his third surgery. He began skin graphs on his back and arms. The Doctor is trying to do as much as he can today but again this is very painful. The Doctor has to remove skin from areas of his body that are not damaged. Since such a large percent of his body was damaged, they are actually having to get skin from other sources.

The skin is stapled on and is very delicate. The recovery is difficult as Chester cannot move or he will remove the skin and staples. These surgeries are painful and cause your skin to feel very itchy.

Alessandra has been faithfully going to the hospital for extremely long days to support Chester with all these surgeries and in her own time trying to deal with the paperwork and replacing needed things.
Today she was getting Chester a pair of glasses since his burned in the fire. She is definitely extra tired as well but always keeps a smile on her face.

I am a friend of the family and will be posting updates to this page. First of all, I wanted to thank you so much for all of you who generously have given to this dear family. It has been incredible to see the community come around them and help in anyway possible. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. There will continue to be needs as we move along the process of recovery. There are also updates being posted on nextdoor for the local community on tangible ways to help.

Chet and Alessandra are some of the kindest people we know and they both have huge hearts to help others. The fire happened so quickly that there was no time for Chet to even get a shirt or shoes on. With Chet's huge kind heart, he decided to go back and save his dogs who were so scared and did not want to leave their little dog house. As he pulled and pulled on them, he could feel the fire burning his back, neck and the bottom of his feet. He saved his dogs but he never came back to Alessandra and the firefighters had to find him extremely injured and burned from the fire.

Chet had a very tough week. His burns are very very serious and are on at least 35% of his entire body and the pain is unbearable. He burned his neck, ear, side of face, entire back, his side and his bottom, back of legs and burned all and lost part of the bottom of his feet. On Thursday, Chet had his first of a minimum of six surgeries. This initial surgery was to wash and then remove the dead and infected skin before they can start doing his own skin graphs. This an extremely difficult and painful surgery. The Doctors were only able to remove the skin from the upper half of his body and will need a second surgery to complete the rest. On Thursday evening when he came out of surgery, Chet was not doing well and had complications as his body was dealing with the extreme amount of blood he lost and possible fighting infections with the skin that has still not been removed. He was extremely pale, had high fevers and was hallucinating. The Doctors decided to run lots of test and changed his antibiotics. We are thankful as his fever had gone down substantially on Friday.

Alessandra has spent most of her days taking care of paperwork in the morning with the help of friends that have come along side her. She then goes to the hospital for the rest of the day to be with Chet till late in the evening.

Chet will be in the hospital for at least 2 months if not more. Some of the difficulties are that Chet's wife is not working and cannot currently, Chet owned his own business and is unable to continue to work for an indefinite amount of time and their family lost everything. Please continue to give and support this family!
