J's Journey

Donation protected

Ten year old J was born into this world like many other babies, loved by his parents, older brother, family and friends. He talked before he could walk.  Loved Elmo, Backyardigans, WowWow Wubbzy and had an imaginary friend that was a fly when he was a toddler. He quickly realized he wanted to be like his older brother, playing sports and video games.  They shared a love for the WWE, football and basketball.
J has a sense of humor that is beyond his years and usually leaves adults laughing and kids his age confused. He is caring, compassionate, loves God and Jesus, his family, friends and his puppy Chewbacca which he nick named “Chewy”.  He loves to hang out on Friday nights and cheer on the  Wildcats and his favorite player…his brother. He loves to play basketball, Pokémon and video games. J has dreams of being an NBA player or a veterinarian.
J was a healthy baby and toddler. On March 6, 2017 J went to his pediatrician for allergy meds, because he had developed a cough. His Mother was asked to take him to the ER for a chest X-ray, because one lung did not have a lot of air moving. She immediately took him to the ER for what she thought was phenomena. We certainly were not prepared for the results that came to us about 10 hours later showing J had T-Cell ALL a form of Leukemia.
J, having the sense of humor and maturity beyond his years went into this head on, even though his family and friends were very confused and in disbelief.  He listened to the physicians and nurses discuss treatments, and clinics along with hospital admissions. Knowing this disease would take him away from all his normal activities and school. As well as limiting time spent with family and friends, even at home due to the risk of someone having an illness that could be transmitted to him.
J has been very strong on this journey, he continues to tackle every obstacle that comes his way. He rarely shows signs of fear, and is always reminding us how important it is to be treated as a normal healthy child. The nurses and child life staff always know how to lift J up, when he is going to feel pain or sadness.  By playing board games, and making him smile.  He has been very blessed to receive the best care from child oncology staff at Memorial.
This Journey has been overwhelming and very emotional. There is no doubt in any of our minds, that Jwill not let this disease take over his life or take him down!!
Recently his mother was let go from her job  and it has begun  to put a financial strain on their family.  His mom is a good friend and a single mother taking care of her two boys.  Since I have known her she has always been the first person to jump in and lend a hand to someone in need and it is not easy for her to be on the receiving end.  She is a strong and faithful woman and I hope this effort to help lighten the burden will be met by the same giving heart that she has.    All donations given will go to uncovered medical bills and help with other expenses. J's journey will be long one please support him and his family even the smallest donation will be greatly appreciated.
Thank you for you generosity & prayers
