People's Fair Sentencing Act 2018

We the People Org (WTPO) is a non-profit watchdog organization created to promote social justice in America and to help bring families back together that have been separated by this country's mass incarceration epidemic. WTPO has filed "The People's Fair Sentencing and Public Safety Act of 2018," a measure to exclude non-violent offenders from life sentences under California's Three Strikes Law.
The funds donated to WTPO will go directly towards ensuring that the measure secures its place on the November 2018 ballot. The first challenge that the organization is faced with is gathering more than 500,000 qualified signatures before the deadline in July 2018 to guarantee the measure indeed makes it on the ballot. Once enough signatures are gathered, the organization will be challenged with securing enough funds to ensure that the initiative is properly marketed to the public. There is an urgent call for financial supporters, members of the media, volunteers, activists, public figures and celebrities to get involved and to assist the organization with not only getting the word out, but to also secure immediate funds to hire a reputable signature gathering organization to collect qualified signatures and for the printing, advertising, marketing, and other administrative costs that are needed to guarantee the success of the measure. With estimated cost that exceed more than one million dollars, the organization is heavily relying on the initiative’s supporters, volunteers and donors to make it possible. Founder of WTPO, Mitch McDowell, says, “We feel certain that this measure will make it on this year’s November ballot, especially after receiving the fiscal impact letter from The California Legislative Analyst's Office, which stated that the measure would exceed $100 million annual savings to the state. That is what the taxpayers of California thought Proposition 57 would do.”
