This year, the Fairchild Wheeler's competitive science team will be competing at the TSA's (Technology Student Association) NATIONAL TEAMS ( Tests of Engineering Aptitude, Mathematics, and Science)
competition!!! The 9/10th grade team placed 1st in the state of Connecticut from the state's TEAMS competition, qualifying the team for NATIONALS in Orlando, FL from June 21-25! We are thrilled to have this opportunity, and excited to represent Fairchild Wheeler.
Founded in November 2015, the Fairchild Wheeler Competitive Science Team focuses on science projects, science competitions, and engineering challenges. Previously, we have attended the Northeast science bowl tournament, TEAMS (Tests of Engineering Aptitude Mathematics, and Science) competition, Hydrogen Fuel Cell Competition, and the YPO (Yale Physics Olympics), Science Olympiad, and various Computer Programming competitions.
Students have worked incredibly hard despite the lack of resources, and have remained optimistic to defeat adversity through practices and competitions. These future scientists are enthusiastic to showcase their skills on a national level, to gain invaluable experience competing and networking with students from around the country.
Breakdown of Expenses:
Flight (group estimate from jetblue) = $5383.29
Hotel ($172/night) = $4,300 (w/out tax)
Equipment for Engineering Challenge: $200
TOTAL = $9,883.29
