Saving Comet

"Until one has loved an animal, a part of one's soul remains unawakened." - Anatole France This quote reminds me of Sarah’s horse Comet. Comet was born into Sarah’s family and has been by her side since day one. In the beginning, Sarah was the one teaching and training Comet, I’m not sure anyone realized at the time that breaking and training that foal was just the beginning of everything Comet had to share with the world. He’s truly everyone’s horse – he loves every new person that he meets and he doesn’t forget his people either. It would be impossible to count all the pony rides he’s given or the beginning riders he’s taken care of. He’s been with Sarah through thick and thin, lots of good times have been shared and many tears have fallen on his mane, they are a fabulous pair. We are so grateful that Comet decided to show us that he was sick – and he did it intentionally. He saw the evening feeder show up, and he dropped in front of the gate, knowing that was where she would see him. Comet wants our help. If he had waited even an hour later and he would have been alone in his stall and probably would not have made it. All the right people were in all the right places – we started meds, we called the vet, we got him out of the mud, we hooked up the trailer, we got him loaded (alone, without a horsie buddy! #win) and we got him to the hospital in time – in the pouring down rain, in the dark. Comet is destined for more. He’s an amazing horse that has lots of love to give everyone. Let’s please show Sarah and her family some love, equine surgery is expensive but priceless. Sarah is a single parent, finishing school, let’s help her get a fresh start. Please like, share and donate.
