Dean Ross, a navy veteran, was hospitalized in July of this year. His service dogs ran off and went missing on July 12, 2015 while under another's care. They were last seen together in the town of DeRuyter, NY a few days later when the sightings abrubtly stopped. This indicates that they may have been picked up and finder failed to notify the legal authorities. We've also learned that Shanghai was attacked by another dog and may be injured or have been picked up and taken to a vet.
Dean has spent endless hours raising and training these pups. He is lost without them. Lost without their comfort, calming presence as he struggles with PTSD, excruciating physical pain, and the agony of not knowing the whereabouts of his kids. He relies on them to assist him with daily living and is overwhelmed at the mere thought of trying to train a new team as he works himself to exhaustion daily, searching & distributing 1500 flyers and counting.
He is asking for your help to raise funds to continue to search a 4 county area and to offer a substantial reward for the safe return of his beloved family members. The reward will be offered for information leading to their whereabouts and subsequent recovery. He also needs help paying for flyers.
In the unfortunate event that no one comes forward and the reward is not claimed, Dean will need to find new companions to begin training all over again. Funds will go towards a new team to assist him. Sadly, Dean suffered the theft of a therapy dog two years ago and even though he knew where his girl was, no one stepped in to bring her home.
Someone knows where they are or what happened to them. Every sighting, no matter how long ago, matters greatly and helps us to get closer to their last known location. If you have seen them after July 12, we want to know!!!
Step forward and do the right thing. If you have seen a new dog(s) in the neighborhood matching Shanghai or Nikita, they may very well have been separated, please, please let us know. If you have heard that they encountered a farmer with livestock, please, please let us know to give their Daddy closure.
