Rebuilding for Pablo

Donation protected
On Wednesday between 2 and 2:30am a load bearing exterior wall on 62 O Street in Southie collapsed. Pablo is the owner of the 3rd floor unit, where he also lives. He is one of 4 members of a very small condo association which collectively owns the building.

Everyone inside the building was safely evacuated. The City of Boston condemned the building and have ordered it to be torn down. A private contractor got involved and we were hopeful he could save the  building, but demolition is being pushed through.

Pablo lost his investment and his home, as well as the majority of his belongings, with the exception of the things he had packed with him for our overnight trip to NYC where we were when the incident occured.

We found out yesterday that the trustee of the condo association allowed their insurance to lapse last month. He did not notify Pablo or the other owners.
EDIT: He is now saying he did not know the insurance was cancelled. This is obviously all being investigated.

Pablo didn't want to ask for help, but so many of you have reached out to me and asked if there is a place to donate that I decided to finally make one.

Please don't feel pressure to give. Pablo doesn't  know I'm setting this up right now while he's downtown dealing with the latest updates. If you are inclined to give, just know that every little bit will help. You will be helping Pablo with little day to day things such as food and transportation costs back and forth to the site as well as much bigger costs like the police fees to guard the property, contractor fees and demolition fees, and the untold costs of what it will take to rebuild his life so it can get back to normal.

Many of you have offered in kind donations of clothes and household goods. We're hoping to be able to go into the building to get some of his clothes today.
Any leads on apartments are appreciated, as eventually he and Noche will need their own space to spread out in. For now if you have cat litter or dry food that is also super helpful. I will let you know when Pablo has a new space and can accept kitchenware and other household goods;  as of now he is staying with me and my roommates in Cambridge.

This has been exhausting, and emotionally devestating for Pablo.  Even if you can't donate - your emails and FB messages of hope and encouragement are very welcomed right now. Although he can't respond to each one of them yet (literally he's constantly surrounded by contractors and adjustors and city officials), your kind words are providing him with a lot of much needed support.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart,
Misch
