The Jensen family

On August 8, 2017, Lauren was diagnosed with advanced thyroid cancer that spread to her lymph nodes, chest, and clavicle tissue. Just under a month later, on September 5, 2017, Lauren underwent a total thyroidectomy, removing her entire thyroid. While in surgery, the surgeon tried to remove as much cancer as possible, but due to the location, it was nearly impossible. After reviewing the pathology report, every specimen taken came back malignant, forcing Lauren to start radiation immediately. On October 2, 2017 through October 13, 2017, Lauren will be in complete isolation due to the nuclear radiation that she will be given. During this time, Lauren will not be able to see or communicate with her husband or two young children; Miles age 3 and Lennon age 1.

Since the diagnoses, Lauren and her husband Matt, had no other choice but to enroll both of their young children in school, which is a costly expense at $1,323 a month in total.
