For anyone that knows my brother, Mason Whitehurst, I'm sure you know his side kick and fur baby Stella. Stella is his baby girl! She and Mason went to Richmond to visit family this past weekend and Stella snuck out of the house to go on an adventure.
Mason was out looking for her most of the night and rallied our family and the neighborhood together to find her the next morning, putting out posters and posting ads on all of the Richmond lost and found pet sites. They scoured the neighborhood all day- until Mason got a call from Animal control that his baby had been found! She was ALIVE but had been hit by a car and left to die on the side of a road.
Stella, the rockstar that she is, was determined that this was not going to be the end for her, She made her way to a nearby house by crawling. The homeowner contacted Animal Control who picked her up and took her to an emergency Vet in Goochland Co. Where they scanned her for a chip and called Mason.
The vet bills are racking up. So far they know that Stellas is not able to move her hind legs and her hip has been displaced. When the inflammation goes down they will be able to do a Cat Scan and MRI to see if it is her spine or the dislocated hip causing the paralysis of her hind legs. She is feeling sensations in her legs which is a good sign and today she was showing more of her great attitude by moving her front paws and giving mason lots of doggie kisses.
If you are able to help with the vet bill it would be most appreciated. Mason is very pleased with the outpour of kindness from everyone at the Emergency vet, the neighbors and family in Richmond and everyone that has reached out to help!!
Please keep Mason in your thoughts and Prayers. He had to make the difficult decision to have Stella put to sleep this afternoon. She was in so much pain and he could not bear to see her so uncomfortable. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your donations. Although this is not the result we were hoping for your donations will help cover her final bills.
