On August 15, 2017, Eleazar Herrera was airlifted to Virginia Mason Hospital in Seattle requiring immediate brain surgery. After surgery and several tests, his diagnosis was Glioblastoma Multiforme at stage 4, a highly malignant brain cancer. After surgery, he required around the clock medical care and hospitalization in various facilities: Virginia Mason Seattle, Kindred Hospital in Seattle, Park Rose Care Center in Tacoma, and hospice care at Cottage in the Meadow in Yakima. Unfortunately, Eleazar lost his battle with cancer on October 26, 2017. He was only 34 years old.
Eleazar was a graduate of Davis High School and earned his bachelor’s degree in physical education at Central Washington University. He proudly served in the Marines. Most recently, he was employed at the Yakima School District as a Substitute Teacher. Eleazar leaves behind his wife and three children (a 3-month-old baby boy, a two-year-old son and a 10-year-old daughter). The mounting household expenses, medical bills, and funeral costs are too much for his wife to handle alone. Therefore, we are reaching out to family, friends and the community for financial support. Any monetary amount will assist the Herrera Family during this difficult time.
