Ka'den Strong

My son Ka'den Cooper is a lovable, funny, smart, big hearted healthy little boy. One day his health took us for a loop of surprises. After complaining about headaches, tingling in his hands, and numbness in his feet and legs he began to experience sudden falls. I took him to the ER and in the doctors' pursuit of running test they concluded my son had a rare condition called Guillian Barre Syndrome. This syndrome occurs when the immune system attacks the nervous system enabling movement in the body due to muscle weakness, abnormality walking, and problems with coordination.  After being admitted to Texas Children's West Hospital along with 2 rounds of IVIG treatment his condition got worse. GBS began to travel up his body. No facial expressions were given by my son and it soon entered his lungs. Ka'den was transported to Texas Children's Medical Center downtown for better medical care and treatment. Being treated in the PICU, Ka'den underwent having a breathing tube inserted for four days and intense treatments called Palsmapheresis. Once he is stable and the doctors make the call, he will be able to  continue his journey to recovery through rehabilitation. During this journey Ka'den will have to learn how to walk again, regain strength in his body, and doing the simple things he was use to. This is an extremely hard time for my family and I. As his mother I never left his side and been with him every step of the way. Medical bills will begin to add up due to his extended stay once he goes to the Rehabilitation Center. Being in downtown Houston with my son has been very very overwhelming  with the expenses of parking, food, and up coming medical bills. I promised my son we walked in together and we will leave together. Any type of monetary giving would be so greatly appreciated as I continue to be here with my son. He's been strong and such a little trooper since day one and he believes a total healing is coming his way in Jesus Name.
