James Hall (LL) Memorial Fund

Our fellow controller, NATCA member and most importantly our friend James (LL) Hall spent 28 years controlling at ORF. LL was the guy that would always be there for you when you really needed help. He would cover your shift and give you the shirt off his back if you needed it. He was an excellent father to his children and instilled in all of us how important it was to be there for your kids. He was great role model and inspired many generations of young athletes through his coaching. He was an excellent controller, trainer and a champion for safety. LL was truly a genuine person. He treated everyone equally and didn’t change his ways for anyone. LL was never afraid to speak up about anything he felt was unsafe or wrong. It didn’t matter who you were or where you came from; safety was his priority. He always went out of his way to joke around with and greet every single person that walked in our doors. His infectious laughter would ring clearly across the entire building. Anyone who has heard that laugh could never forget it. It is going to be rough not hearing that laugh or seeing that smile on him stretched out on that small blue couch in the break room. Norfolk would like to create a Memorial bench and tree in honor of James on our facility grounds, as well as donate to his family.
