Zyra Needs New Knees
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Shaina and I am a passionate dog mom of 3 rescues. Dog lovers all of our lives, myself and my husband Josh are dedicated to rescuing dogs and love them like our children. We currently have three fur kids- Keena, Pika and Zyra. Zyra is our youngest, just turning a year old- we fell in love with her and she was transported to New England on April 2nd, 2022 at 3 months old. All three of our babies have sad back stories- Keena was found in a bag with her siblings under a bridge, Pika was found and rescued from the streets of New York, and Zyra was born on the streets of Mississippi on an extremely cold night. Mom and puppies were all rescued and we were fortunate enough to bring Zyra into our life. On Friday, January 20th, Zyra was doing one of her favorite activities, running in the back yard, and she tore her CCL or the ACL for dogs. We took her to our local vet on Monday the 23rd and were surprised to learn not only do we need to repair her CCL, but she has two floating kneecaps (luxating patellas). Zyra is now looking at two surgeries, one per leg, over the next 6-9 months. Josh and I absolutely accept responsibility for her surgery and her care and not once have we considered not going through with this surgery. At this time, money is incredibly tight and finding the funds to do both legs this unexpectedly is a huge financial burden. We know this is our responsibility but if anyone has some spare cash and would like to aid in the surgery for Zyra we would be incredibly grateful. Josh and I work hard and spend everything we have on our babies. We want Zyra to be able to run and play like this never happened. The total cost reflected in this campaign is for both knees- one now, and one this fall. Anything helps, $5, $10, $20, even just a share for others to see our story. We love our little girl and we know you would too if you got to know Zyra and her funny personality. She deserves the best we can give her. Thank you for reading and for considering supporting.
