Meet Jupiter

Jupi is my smart, energetic, and lovey 4-year-old kitty who was rescued by my aunt as a tiny kitten after being found in a garbage can with his sisters, Amara and Lilly. He spends his days being a menace towards his siblings, playing fetch with his favorite toy mouse, and suckling on his baby blanket when he gets sleepy.

Why we’re here

Last Thursday night, Jupi was rushed to the emergency vet with a life-threatening urinary blockage. Male cats are especially vulnerable to these obstructions, which are excruciatingly painful and fatal if not treated immediately. He underwent a procedure to remove the obstruction and came home with me the following day. Unfortunately, just a couple days later, Jupi blocked again, and needed another emergency procedure on Monday.

What happens next

The vet has explained that without a special surgery called a Perineal Urethrostomy, Jupi is at high risk of continuing to obstruct, which could cost his life. A PU creates a wider urethral opening so he can pass urine normally and prevent these blockages from happening in the future. It’s his best chance at survival.

The cost

So far, Jupi’s emergency bills have already totaled over $6,600 ($2,700 for the first hospitalization and $3,900 for the second). The PU surgery itself is estimated at $3,000+. This is far more than I can manage without support.

Jupi is my baby- he is quirky, outspoken, silly, and has brought an energy to my life that I never knew I was missing. I am determined to do everything within my power to give him the best possible chance he can get at sticking around for many years to come.
