Lawrence: A Community in Recovery

Donation protected
Hello friends near and far,

On Thursday, September 13th, 2018, the city of Lawrence (and surrounding communities) experienced one of the scariest situations imaginable. Residents frantically fled their homes to escape potential explosions and fires caused by overpressured gas valves and gas leaks. Many are displaced, 25 people were injured, and unfortunately, a life was lost as a result of this horrific event.

As the community takes the necessary steps to recover, we're experiencing a shortage of supplies and resources. We've seen a wave of support come from Red Cross, other organizations, and people from neighboring communities across MA and neighboring states, but there is just too much to do. I have decided to start a GoFundMe page on behalf of those affected in order to expedite Lawrence's recovery.

While the funds are being accumulated, I, as well as a few other young professionals from Lawrence, will take the time to speak to families affected and local non-profits, so that we can ensure that 1). the funds are directly going to those impacted, and 2). the funds are being disseminated in the most efficient way possible.

Although we are not expecting to reach the allotted fundraising goal (even though it's well below the amount needed for recovery), we are pushing to get as close to it as possible. Any amount of a donation would help! Please consider donating, as many in Lawrence have already been experiencing a lack of resources, and this tragedy has only exacerbated poverty and financial hardships.
