In August of this year, my father was diagnosed with stage 4 small cell cancer in his lungs, brain, bones, and spine. This of course has stopped him from being able to work. For those of you who know my father, he’s always worked tirelessly to support our family. In 2015, the driving school that he worked at for over 30 years, and that he managed and eventually owned, went out of business. Since then, he had been working all day and night, including on weekends and holidays, as a delivery driver just so we could get by. Now he needs the support of others. Despite insurance, the medical bills have already started to pile up and this is just the beginning. Before his diagnosis, we were barely getting by, and now despite me and my brother helping out as much as we can, it has just become too much. I also have a 19 month old son that I'm providing for as well. Our mother does what she can, but she has her own issues. She is in constant pain due to a bad back, and they have recently found lesions in her body that require testing. Between rent, medical expenses, our cars, utilities, credit cards, etc, it’s beginning to feel like we are over our heads. Anything you can spare will go a long way to helping this family out.
