Matty is a 9 year old child affected by Autism. Unfortunately, due to the severity of his behaviors, combined with the lack of community supports available to him, he is simply unable to remain in his home safely. His parents were forced to have him hospitalized and then placed in a residential treatment facility. Matty has been awarded a waiver by the state due to the severity of his needs associated with ASD; however, local policy suggests that because he is not a mandated child to receive 24 hour care, his parents must now pay over $850 per month in child support simply to continue to support his placement, as the waiver does not fully fund his services. This family has been through so much, including Matty's mom undergoing a double mastectomy (she's in her 30's) and a full hysterectomy due to testing positive for the BRCA gene. Instead of one or both of his parents having to secure additional employment, wouldn't it be best for them to focus their time and energy on spending time with their sweet boy? Every dollar we raise supports this child continuing to receive the services that he truly deserves as part of his autism diagnosis while also having the emotional support he needs from his mom, dad, sweet sisters, and his Autism service dog, Jammer. They didn't choose this life, but they wouldn't change a thing about their boy. Can you help? Even if you cannot help financially, your prayers are appreciated. No family should have to pay for necessary treatment for a child on the Spectrum, especially when all community -based alternatives have been exhausted. Every dollar counts.
