Recently, about a year ago, a friend of ours, Stan Anderson, was what seemed like a healthy, happy, social and very busy guy. He was always upbeat and loved sharing stories and discussing his latest architecture project. He had a career change later in life and was getting his business going as an architect so he had a lot on his plate. All who knew him were touched by his gentle nature and his easy going vibe.
Fast forward roughly six months, and after having weird pains in his abdominal area, to his and his wife's complete shock, he was diagnosed with later stage pancreatic cancer.
Our friend Karen, Stan's wife, made a choice at that moment. That choice made Karen Stan's advocate and to literally do anything and everything she could reasonably do to not only encourage Stan to fight this horrid disease, but to advocate for Stan and research and pursue all the possible medical paths they could.
Sadly, much of Stan's physical reaction to treatment and the cancer itself, left his body weak to the point that treatment was not responsive. As a result, we recently lost Stan.
Stan is survived by his wife Karen and our wishes are to raise funds for Karen so she doesn't have to focus on the debt accumulated from this unexpected and tragic death of her husband.
I suggested to Karen that we do a GoFundMe to help get one thing off her plate, financial stress, because the stress of losing a spouse or loved one is unfathomable and overwhelming enough.
Karen doesn't want to draw this kind of attention to herself because that's her modest nature. My response is that we all are connected and we should help each other where we can and we can only hope that people step up when we are in need, so I asked for her blessing in pursuing this and that's why you're reading this.
Please help where you can. With a little help from our friends, we can make a big difference in Karen's life.
