A life that touches others goes on forever. On November 6th, 2017 Zuwena Iona McCurdy succumed to a heart attack and other complications that ended her vibrant life at the age of 22 years old.
Zuwena was a strong loving girl, suffered with Type 1 diabetes, end stage lung disease , developemental delay, and other medical complications but yet she perservered with a smile and thumbs up, refusing to let anything break her warrior spirit. Her daily life was full of early mornings , medications, surgical procedures constant dependance on oxygen and frequent hospitalizations.
Zuwena's desperate condition required new lungs, she was eventually placed on the lung transplant list. But despite several calls to prepare for a lung transplant, Zuwenas hope was not realized . Her positive attitude, relentless sense of humor and uplifting spirit was acknowlegded by every person that cared for her over the past 12 years. Although she never recieved lungs many people she crossed paths with willingly donated their hearts to help in her fight to live.
Zuwena passed away before she could recieve her lungs or seeing her mom one last time . We are asking for support with the funeral arrangements for our sweet Zuwena, her life was cut short too soon and we want to give her a beautiful homegoing service with all her family being able to come especially her mother who hasn't physically seen her in 11 years .
