Hello people, you have arrived!

Ancestral Rich Treasures of Zuni (ARTZ) Cooperative is the only Zuni company owned and operated by Zuni Artists, and it’s the only known Native-owned artist cooperative in New Mexico! ARTZ formed last year (thanks in part to GoFundMe donors!) to empower Zuni Artists to take control of our collective livelihoods by collaborating to create a fair market value for Zuni Art.

We are nearly 30 proud Zuni carvers, jewelers, metalsmiths, painters, potters, silversmiths, and weavers who joined together in the summer of 2019 to cooperatively market our art and build a community art and education space by leasing a gallery in the center of Zuni. We were lauded as a unique success story and felt a great sense of dignity as we work together toward common goals. We were building momentum as we held an educational conference for local artists, saw tons of visitors at our gallery, spent hundreds of hours volunteering for the co-op, and took over management of the Zuni Pueblo ArtWalk studio tour program.

Then the Covid-19 pandemic hit. And our tight-knit Zuni community was hit especially hard. McKinley County, where Zuni Pueblo is located, has a relatively small population but has the highest number of COVID-19 cases in New Mexico. As Zuni’s numbers grew, our Pueblo completely shut down and instituted a curfew.

With our gallery shut down and no tourists coming through town, art sales dramatically dropped, needless to say! This makes it hard for us artists to pay our bills and create new art, and we now run the risk of losing our gallery space if we lapse on rent and other expenses! We are trying to promote art sales on our new website, social media, and thinking of creative ways to do “virtual” ArtWalk studio tours and art demonstrations. However, many of us do not have personal computers or the internet, so we face many challenges with this!

Your donation will help us pay our bills and provide benefits to our members such as free masks, internet access to enable each artist to promote art individually and collectively, essential art supplies, and more.

No donation is too small. Your donation will not only provide relief to ARTZ Co-op Members. It will empower us to maintain and improve our successful artist managed and controlled arts coop into the future, and further strengthen the Zuni community. We have come so far - we cannot fail now!

Elahkwa! Don yanikchiya:do.

Thank you! May you be blessed.
