Fecht Family Fund

Friends and family of Steve and Cheryl Fecht (pronounced fate), and Jason and Teresa Fecht as they deal with the aftermath of the Ranch Fire in Lake County (July/August 2018).

This is a love story: love of God, love of family and love of the land. July 5, 1976, Steve and Cheryl moved with their son Jason from South San Francisco to Upper Lake. They bought 20 acres on Middle Mountain when land was dirt cheap. At first they lived in a trailer on the land with no electricity and only cold running water. Over the years they worked hard, raised a family and managed to make modest improvements. Then in 2008 their son Jason built his parent's home on the property. In 2009 Jason and Teresa built their own family home there as well. These are salt (and light) of the earth people living paycheck to paycheck. They lost both homes and all of their material possessions, as well as the beauty, peace and quiet of the mountain they love. Even so their faith, thankfulness and love have grown. They share an eternal perspective that provides "the peace that passes all understanding."  As friends and family, though, we know their insurance was minimal and the costs to reestablish any kind of housing in the area will be substantial. Life will never be the same for the Fecht's, but we can help them as they begin to build again and turn "ashes to beauty." Won't you join us.

Darrin, a family friend, said it well: "The Carr, Ranch and River Fires have been very hard for many people... and these are some of those people... they are the most modest, caring, humble, sharing, beautiful, amazing, people... they have not lost one house but two homes, not just the home Jason built for his wife and children with his own hands, but also the home he built for his parents... on the land they have lived on for 40 years... please share and let's do what we can for them..."

As Cheryl's sister, Kathy,  I am asking you to share this as widely on social media as you can. $5, $50, $500 or $5,000 whatever you can give will be much appreciated. The need is great to help them rebuild two family homes.

"But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us. We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed. We always carry around in our body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may be revealed in our body."  2 Corinthians 4:7-10
