Anna and Brodie's Family

Donation protected
Over the last few weeks, Anna Tyler and her husband, Brodie Large, said their goodbyes to his co-workers and employees, to our school community at Westabou Montessori School (where Anna worked pre-pandemic and where their young sons are students-- both learning from home this year).  We've  said good-bye with appropriate social distancing over the last couple of weeks and today, December 17th, they were due to set off with for a cross country move back to Oregon.

Brodie, woke up at 4 am this morning to discover their entire stash of worldly belongings minus a few books and legos had been stolen in the night, along with the trailer  in which it was all packed.  The police were not optimistic about recovery of any of the items.  The Large family had purchased the trailer specifically for the move with plans to sell it on the other end.  The approximate value of items in the trailer is estimated at about $40,000.

Anna is a thrifter extraordinaire and the whole family is prone to cultivate experiences more than buy stuff, but they did have and love a beautifully curated set of household items including a lot of Ikea furniture, artwork, including their children's, very nice camping equipment, a full set of kitchen gear (they are great cooks and never eat out), a big green egg cooker,  and Brodie's photography equipment.   Most upsetting are the items that are irreplaceable-- childhood art work and photos from multiple generations as well as  most of the children's clothes, games, toys, and all their wrapped Christmas presents and seasonal decorations.

Their finances had been heavily invested in the process of moving. Since the trailer was packed to go, neither renter's insurance or vehicle insurance will cover the loss.   While they (and we) are grateful, they are physically well and safe-- this loss of all their stuff is a huge blow emotionally and financially.   Your contribution will help them buy the basics of what they need to start over in Oregon with setting up a household.

They will need to buy art supplies for the kids, cook ware, dishes, linens, beds, other furniture, warm clothes, and all the rest of things that make a house a home.  Thanks for your generosity for this beautiful and generous family.
